The historic background of this building originates at the height of economic prosperity derived from the salt which gave this whole region its name and can be traced back as far as 1807. The present structure was erected in 1845 and was used as a sawmill until 1962 Between 1978 and 1982 it was used as showroom and gallery for various art exhibits.

It was eventually adapted as a private residence in 1986 - with all modern comforts. The rear wall of the living room has the original bricking.
